The NRM lifetime presidential candidate, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni aged 76, has today strongly warned Ugandans against peddling lies on the deadly Corona virus disease. Museveni warned he would be forced to react as he did on Pastor Augustine Yiga who had disapproved the virus presence in Uganda during a public TV speech earlier in March this year.
Addressing the NRM delegates this morning, a fury fledged Museveni said he had come across social media comments mainly operated by People Power supporters disregarding the existence of COVID-19 in Uganda. He warned to arrest and prosecute any politician who does not preach the existence of COVID-19 in Uganda. “I have heard that some politicians are saying that there is no COVID-19. If we get evidence, we shall prosecute them,” Museveni told NRM delegates in a room meeting this morning.
Museveni also urged the public to strictly adhere to the precautionary measures imposed by the Ministry of health. He also disclaimed allegations that his government was making money out of the covid pandemic. “For four months, nobody died. People said the scientists are locking us down to make money. Well, on July 21st, we had the first death. And now we have 15 deaths,” he further revealed.
Although Museveni preaches Covid existence, his own Ministers have disapproved him in public by holding mass rallies and processions in their political campaigns. Even Museveni himself has flouted guidelines as evidenced in his Ndeeba church appearance when he convened dozens of unmasked people. Apparently, Uganda’s covid caseload has soared to 1,560 cumulative cases with 1,165 cumulative recoveries and 15 deaths. Yesterday, the Ministry reported 60 new infections and warned of an upsurge if Ugandans continue to be complacent.
