National Unity Platform party spokesperson, Joel Ssenyonyi has this morning disputed Museveni’s last night remarks on MP Zaake where he alleged that the legislator was propagating lies on the COVID-19 situation in the country.

Speaking today on the NBS morning breeze show, Ssenyonyi deemed it unfair for Museveni to be on Zaake’s ‘neck’ yet he can’t do the same on his Ministers. “President Museveni talked about Hon. Zaake saying there’s no COVID-19, I am yet to see a video of Zaake saying that. The president hasn’t come out hard on his ministers holding rallies without masks. You can’t preach water yet you drink Wine,” Joel said.

On the concluded youth elections, Ssenyonyi says the National Unity Platform candidates overwhelmingly defeated the NRM party candidates but the biased Byabakama EC overturned and pronounced the otherwise. “I want to congratulate the youth who participated in the youth elections. I must admit we weren’t able to field candidates everywhere within these two weeks since the National Unity Platform was launched,” Joel said. “Many of our candidates run as independents because we weren’t able to finalize some things here and there. We have to prepare adequately for the coming elections because majority of the candidates we had in the youth elections went through,” he added.

On Dr. Besigye’s exit, Ssenyonyi says what the four time presidential candidate did was commendable. “I want to salute Kizza Besigye, his contribution to this country is incredible. Many of us have learnt a great deal from him,” Ssenyonyi confessed. “Our team leader Hon. Kyagulanyi has often said he looks up to Dr. Besigye. We can’t at a y time underrate the contribution of Kizza Besigye,” he adds.
