Moments after getting nominated, the NRM lifetime presidential candidate Gen. Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni did not hesitate to take a swipe at his major challenger Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine of the National Unity Platform party. Museveni who is appearing on the ballot for the sixth time says he won’t take chances on those who intend to use unconstitutional means to put him out of power.
An embittered Museveni in a live televised speech moments after securing his sixth nomination warned that he would deal with anyone who stands in his way and especially those who plan to disrupt the election process. “I hear people saying all manner of things that I’m already president and want to come back, they are planning all sorts of stupid things to disrupt the process. You’ll bring yourself problems, we shall deal with you. Nobody should be intimidated by these crooks,” an infuriated Museveni said. Museveni whose major support is in the high ranking bush war soldiers warns that he will be propelled to using what he ‘best understands’ to quash all those who plan to disrupt his ‘peace’. “I would like to encourage everybody to maintain peace. If you want to bring chaos here, you will regret it. We don’t play,” he warns.
With the elections drawing close as per the EC roadmap, the political temperature is yet to hit the climax as Ugandans warm up to put an end to the 35 year dictatorship. Many are highly considerate of Kyagulanyi’s candidature as they perceive him as the long awaited liberator. Ugandans have actually rallied other opposition politicians to step down and rally behind Bobi Wine on the 2021 ballot.
