In a statement by the EC, the 14th day of January 2021 has been announved as the polling day for the 2021 presidential polls. The campaigns are to begin next week on November 9 where the EC will officially green light and flag off all the contenders to reach out to their electorate in a scientific manner that will be widely reliant on the mainstream and social media. In the new EC guidelines, rallies and processions especially for the opposition have been outlawed while the incumbent NRM candidate Gen. Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni is at liberty to hold processions without any security intervention.

Among the eleven candidates, only one is a female and running as an independent candidate. Nancy Kalembe, 40 is the only lady on the 2021 ballot while John Katumba, a 24 year old Makerere graduate is the youngest candidate in Uganda’s elective politics history.

The race has been reduced to majorly two candidates and that is the opposition strong pillar Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine of the NUP party and the incumbent 76 year old Tibuhaburwa. Kyagulanyi is to launch his campaign manifesto on Friday this week.
