DPC Frank Mwesigwa in the spotlight
On Wednesday following the degrading attack and arrest of the NUP presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi Wine, pockets of spontaneous protests hit all major cities across the country and left over 50 people dead after being shot by the armed forces. The blood of the deceased innocent lives would not have been spilled if the no nonsense DPC of Luuka district, a one Frank Mwesigwa had acted professionally in a civic manner. Because of his heavy handed approach, lives of 50 Ugandans are unaccounted for. In our special report, we profile and detail the notorious opposition tormentor in uniform who has turned repression of those against the regime, into his hobby.
Mwesigwa was by no doubt a blue eyed boy of former IGP, Gen. Kale Kayihura. He always led the operations against opposition supporters in the Kampala Metropolitan area in the year 2016. His peers say he is a practical police officer who enjoys individually tormenting his victims which is why he personally bundled Bobi Wine into a police van in Luuka at the time of arresting him. Mukono MP Nambooze Bakireke has also pinned Mwesigwa to have battered her during the 2017 age limit protests that left her crippled for life when he cracked her spine with a knee in the corridors of parliament away from cameras. “He is the security officer who commanded the operation to break my back….this is Frank Mwesigwa a man who attempted to kill me in Sept 2017 when the Junta invaded parliament,” MP Nambooze said this week.
Wealthy cop with blood money
Mwesigwa’s links and dealings with Gen. Kayihura enriched him and reports in fact say that this cop owns an empire of businesses reaped from his repatriation deals with Kigali. It is reliably indicated that Mwesigwa was a sworn ally of Gen. Kayihura with whom he would abduct and repatriate Rwandan nationals to be murdered by the Paul Kagame government. DPC Mwesigwa invested his earnings in a multiplicity of businesses which include real estate and car bonds in Nakawa. It is said that his networth hits past 7 billion in terms of assets and cash which is too much for a DPC who earns a meagre monthly pay not exceeding UGX 5 million.
Mwesigwa’s hate on Bobi dates back to 2017
When Dr. Besigye went off the political scene and took a brief leave from street clashes, a new youthful face surfaced. Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, a musician turned singer and regime critic turned the target of regime brutality due to his outspokenness against the government. Mwesigwa set his focus on the young legislator and turned him to his daily meal. In 2017 as Bobi Wine returned from the US where he had been for a trip, Mwesigwa pitched camp at Entebbe airport to arrest the singer over a viral audio in which he bashed the Museveni government for banning his music concerts. Mwesigwa personally drove to Entebbe airport and confined Bobi Wine to a police vehicle and drove him to a holding facility. For people like Mwesigwa, the lives of 50 slain Ugandans are meaningless for as long as the Museveni government is still reigning. He is a man who will superitend terror on citizens if they attempt to topple a regime that has built him a fortune. He believes the protests and regime change may strip him of his car bond and real estate businesses.
