Presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert has this morning spoken out on the UPDF led Wednesday night raid on his hotel. The NUP party candidate and his team were blocked from accessing the Hoima radio station on which they were to address the voters. Without any justification, Kyagulanyi was forcefully confined in his hotel room and not allowed to leave or communicate with his legal team until this morning when the deployment around Dream hotel was relaxed.

Addressing the public in a media interview with NTV this Thursday morning, Kyagulanyi revealed that he has so far been blocked from accessing at least 16 districts. He adds that he has raised complaints to the EC but has never got a formal response from justice Simon Byabakama. “We have written to protest notes to EC. I have also spoken to Justice Byabakama on phone, he admitted that he didn’t know anything, that he didn’t even know that I was arrested or that I am being blocked. He continues to trade ignorance,” Kyagulanyi say. “I still fail to understand why all this is happening and the EC is quiet. When will they speak out? For how long will the security officers give orders regarding our campaigns?,” he adds.

Kyagulanyi furthermore decries the escalating comfrontational approach being exhibited by the armed forces. “Yesterday when we tried to access our rally grounds in Kibaale, security officers cocked guns and asked us to leave. We didn’t want to create a scene so we left,” he says.
