Nabimanya was a week ago whisked away from her home alongside her 3 months old baby and have since been detained incommunicado with no formal charge (s) slapped on her. The detained Nabimanya is an outspoken NUP party supporter who uses social media platforms to lambast and ridicule the sitting government officials who persistently violate human rights. Multiple sources reveal that her arrest must be attributed to her social media activity and satirical behaviour against the regime. NUP party lawyers led by Counsel Shamim Malende have for the past week tried to process her release order but all in vain.

Bobi Wine on her arrest

For over a week now, comrade Nakimanya Hellen commonly known as Aunt Kaduuka has been under illegal detention at SID Kireka! She was violently arrested, apparently for using social media to expose the dictatorship!

Since then, our lawyers have been demanding for her unconditional release since she hasn’t been produced in court way beyond the 48 hours mandated by law. Court will this morning hear an application by our team for unconditional release. What is happening in this country is really unfortunate! The dictatorship has now gone bare, and removed all pretense. Auntie Kaduuka joins hundreds of our people who are languishing in jails without being produced in court. Of course, we continue to demand for her unconditional release as soon as possible.
