The state owned newspaper, New Vision has this Wednesday morning released opinion polls disfavoring the National Unity Platform party presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine who is the major contender to the incumbent president Museveni.
In the opinion polls, New Vision editors working under state pressure give the NRM party presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni a 64.8% lead not withstanding the fact that he has drastically lost grip of the youth and women block vote which constitutes a big percentage of the 15 million voters in the Electoral Commission voters’ register. The same poll rewards the NUP party presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu only 24.8% of the total vote while FDC’s Eng. Patrick Amuriat comes third with only 2.9% of the total polls.
The poll does not however give an insight into the methodology the statiscians and vote analysts used to come up to that conclusion. Our efforst to contact the Vision group editorial board turned fruitless as none was ready to give a comment on the projected polls. This however has been the trend whenever the polling date is a stone thtow away. The state has been publishing its own polls to justify the outcomes of the exact vote results even if its against the opposition candidates. In 2016 forinstance, president Museveni was favoured throughout all the newspaper published polls and this in the end justified his ‘victory’ on the final voting day.
