The Electoral Commission chairperson justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi has this Saturday afternoon announced that campaigns and processions in the capital, Kampala are to be fully held scientifically with no rallies and processions. This comes just after the NUP party presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine was beginning his campaign trail in the central region where he enjoys solid support.

“Due to the surging coronavirus cases & continued processions by Presidential candidates, physical campaign meetings in Kampala have been suspended by the electoral commission until further notice,” Justice Simon Byabakama said. He lists districts like Kasese, Wakiso, Luweero, Kabarole, Mbarara, Luweero and Kampala as high risk areas where the covid cases have spiked.

His announcement however remains uncertain as to whether even the local council and Member of parliament aspirants in Kampala too will be compelled to halt their trail. More on the story will be added shortly.
