A UPDF military patrol today hijacked a Uganda Prisons Service bus that had brought dozens of supporters of the National Unity Platform party for bail.

Some of those who were aboard the bus was Hon. Kyagulanyi’s security aide, Edward Ssebuufu alias Eddie Mutwe and his long time confidant and fellow artiste Buken Ali alias Nubian Li.

The motive of the raid on court could not be established but from a legal perspective of NUP lawyers it was just meant to sabotage the bail process. “The never wanted them to acquire bail. We do not even know why the military had to raid a temple of justice,” the NUP lawyer remarked. “This was not just a raid on court but a sign that this regime does not respect institutions,” he added.

He further mentions that they are to hold the head of Masaka Ssaza prison accountable for the day’s events. “He had spent 2 days fooling us that he needed reinforcement from Kampala to transport the suspects to court but this is what we have seen,” the lawyer bitterly said. “We will hold Afande Kidega OC Ssaza prison accountable for what has transpired today,” he adds.
