The outgoing president of the Republic of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni who has led the East African nation since 1986 is set to give his final address as head of state, his communication handlees say.
The address is slated for 19:00hrs (E.A.T) where president Museveni is expected to give his farewell address as the nation warms up for a new leadership that is anticipated to be under the popstar turned politician Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine.
President Museveni who has maintained grip on the landlocked country is accused of ruling with repression as his regime has been characterised by aggravated crackdown on the opposition leaders. Just last year in November, over 54 lives were lost during street clashes between supporters of Bobi Wine, 38, who had been brutally arrested in Luuka district. Instead of issuing an apology to the public and compensating the families of the people who died, president Museveni bragged about having a very strong army.
