As Ugandans brace for the looming general elections, the incumbent regime is coming up with much more repressive measures to weaken the major opponent to president Museveni.

Bobi Wine, a 38 year old presidential contender has given the 76 year old Tibuhaburwa Museveni an unprecedented challenge. Ranging from blocking him from meeting his supporters even before covid came in to arresting all his campaign aides, the government thought it had weakened Bobi Wine but his zeal remains unshaken.
Just a day after deploying the military all over his Magere residence in Wakiso district, president Museveni through the police has ordered the withdrawal Kyagulanyi’s private security guards who who been with him for the past 12 years. Kyagulanyi confirmed the development in a social media statement.
“So, the private security company that has been guarding my home for the last 12 years has been ordered to withdraw security at my house. Their supervisors showed up unannounced at midnight, disarmed my guard and said they had instructions to immediately withdraw my security.
Their explanation was that they’re under police and therefore must do as ordered,” Bobi said in a Facebook post.
