A number of pro- government websites have been disabled by the famous vigilantes self titled ‘Anonymous’ in response to Uganda’s continued oppression and shut down of internet services. The named websites so far include Nbstv, Uganda Parliament and the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC). We are expecting leaked information from the hijacked sites as is the tradition of Anonynous to expose injustices perpetuated by oppressive tyrants in this case the Uganda Government.

Anonymous claims to have ‘infilterated Uganda’s intranet and mail systems and data bases’and intend to monitor any signs of voting fraud. Posts can be seen on twitter informing UCC that things are not good for them. Following the harrassment, torture and death of some opposition candidates during the heavily guarded elections, the new developments have left many disempowered Ugandans jubilating at the timely intervention. It remains to be seen if the government will be forced to enable internet services if only to try and save their websites.
