Addressing the press in reaction to the public probe into the endless abduction of supporters of the National Unity Platform party, Brig. Flavia admits that the army and sister security agencies are behind all this. “We have credible information that implicates all the targeted youths of NUP. They plan to initiate uprisings that may lead to insurrection,” she says. “We will not allow these young people to destabilise the country. We call upon them to be law abiding or else we will continue arresting them,” she added.

She further says that it is true that she keeps receiving phone calls from the relatives of these youths. “Yes I keep getting calls from their family members. It’s true we have most of them in our custody. If they denounce violence, we will stop arresting them,” she says.

Her comments come just after hours after the NUP party coordinator in Makindye, Musiri David was on Monday night abducted by security operatives who trailed him in a white Toyota premio. Similary, the NUP youth mobilizer and Makerere University students guild president, Julius Kateregga says he was nearly arrested from his home but luckily he had not spent a night there. “They came and knocked on our gate, beat up the Askari and made their way into our premises,” Kateregga says. “They randomly knocked at all doors looking for me but I had been tipped off so I never spent the night around,” he adds.
