The security council has Friday dropped the UPDF spokesperson Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso from representing the army in the 11th parliament.
In a list seen by this reporter, Byekwaso is not among the 4 females nominees who include Col Dr Victoria Nekesa, Lt Col charity Bainababo, Lt Col Susan Mwanga and Lt Col Dr Jenifer Alanyo.
The basis of her dropping is linked to her incompetence according to security sources that spoke to this site. “She wants to hold each and every office,” one soldier on the council says. “Can’t she at least occupy one office at a go,” he adds.
Brig. Byekwaso who is the second highly ranked female soldier in the country was in 2016, at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, elected to be one of the ten military men and women who represent the UPDF in the 10th Parliament (2016–2021).
She was in August last year appointed Defence Spokesperson, a position she has struggled to give a polish.
