President Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni has deliberately snubbed receiving a copy of the petition lodged in by his major challenger, Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine on behalf of the National Unity Platform party. Museveni at the moment has between now and 17:00 hours of February, 3 to receive the petition.

The petition which cites over 26 counts that make the entire 2021 electoral process a total sham have reportedly raised eye brows of the elderly African last standing despot. According to the laws governing election petitions, Mr. Museveni must be personally served a copy of the suit in a space of 3 days from when it is filed.

On the contrary however, NUP lawyers led by Anthony Wameli say they have tried to trace for Mr. Tibuhaburwa at all his known addresses but in vein. By closure of business on Tuesday, Museveni was neither at Nakasero state house, nor the NRM party headquarters at Kyadondo road in Kampala. “We are supposed to serve him a copy of the petition according to the law. He is no where to be seen yet we are running out of time,” Wameli said. “We may be compelled to use the media to advertise to him the petition because the law has that provision too,” he adds.

Sources close to Museveni say that the 76 year old dictator is under panic after the NUP party piled overwhelmingly proof that is likely to overturn his looted victory. Important to note is the fact that a high court judge in neighbouring Kenya already set a precedent that a sitting president can be ousted and a rerun can be held. This, according to sources has scared away Mr. Museveni. Apparently, at least 9 of the 11 high court judges are expected to take part in the 2021 presidential election petition.
