The National Unity Platform party secretariat has this Friday afternoon held a special intetface with the families, friends and relatives of the people who were abducted by armed forces of the Tibuhaburwa government.
The event which is widely committed to prayers for the torture victims has been flanked by NUP principal Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine, Executive secretary David Lewis Rubongoya and MP elects like Mukono municipality legislator Betty Nambooze Bakireke.
Relatives of the tortured and abducted victims are sharing their life experiences with how they have to grapple with the harsh side of life without their loved ones who remain confined in the dungeons of the repressive Museveni regime.
“My young daughter keeps asking for the whereabouts of her abducted father. Every night she tells me where is daddy!,” one woman who spoke at the pulpit said. “I wonder where the peace Museveni purportedly fought for is. My husband was picked in broad daylight. We tried to chase after the men at Mawanda road but in vain. We were overwhelmed and we ended up giving in,” she adds.
NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi says as the party, they will not relent from questing for justice of all the abducted people. “The party already has a petition with the UN human rights Commission and we do believe that’s one of the many ways we will push for freedom of our comrades,” he said. “We also call upon Mr. Tibuhaburwa and his government to release those of Eddie Mutwe and our other comrades who are being kept in cells without trial,” he adds.
By the time of filing this report, Hon. Kyagulanyi was yet to give his address regarding the ongoing political tension.
