The meeting was held at State House Entebbe where Museveni hosted security chiefs in the UPDF, police, prisons and ISO. Sources close to the development say one of the issues that topped the talks was the tensions caused by the recent spate of kidnaps and abductions targeting supporters of the National Unity Platform party.

On their agenda, the president also raised concerns on the economic crisis triggered by the sanctions being imposed by the western donors of the European Union and the US. The president pointed and related all this to Bobi Wine whom he declared ‘an enemy’ to Uganda’s sovereignty. He alleged that even the political impasse stems from his persisten rejection of the outcome of the polls. “That young man, Hon. Kyagulanyi is the cause of what the country is facing at the moment,” Museveni reportedly said. “He has close connections with the foreigners. They want to destabilise our peace but we shall crash them,” he added.

In the meeting, the security minister Gen. Elly Tumwiine is said to have hit the table and asked for permission to lead the operation of ending NUP dominance in Buganda region. “Your Excellency, we cannot take Kyagulanyi’s party lightly. The young man has too much support,” Tumwiine exclaimed. “We have to sort him out before he becomes a problem,” he added.

By the end of the meeting, it was resolved that the security agencies persist with the abductions while media has been assigned and cautioned to cease granting these incidents coverage.
