The NUP party president Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine has continued to press government to account for the thousands of the missing persons who were reportedly abducted by security forces during the political season.
Speaking during plenary today, the musician cum politician who legislates for Kyadondo East in the tenth parliament sought for the speaker’s voice on the abductions. He tried to rally Rt. Hon. Kadaga to impose more pressure on the executive arm of government which is believed to be behind the political abductions.
“Madam Speaker, as we comfortably sit in this House, I want to remind all of us that Ugandans are being abducted on a daily basis by security operatives. They are being held in unknown detention centers across the country,” Bobi said.
He further sought explanations on why his supporters are arbitrarily detained and charged before the military court martial. “Why are our civilians being tried in military courts without their lawyers and relatives?,” he asked.
His probe comes just after the Minister for internal affairs Maj. Gen. Jeje Odong called on relatives of the abducted persons to reach out to the police headquarters in Naguru so that special arrangements can be made for them to visit their colleagues who are under custody.
