The restless former contender for the Kawempe North seat, Sulaiman Kidandala has tasked court to grant him permission to deliver his suit to MP elect Ssegirinya Muhammad who is being confined in Kitalya prison.
Kidandala says Ssegirinya could have tactically made the move of his arrest in a bid to abscond being served with the legal suit that challenges his academic credentials. Ssegirinya is to spend his Easter holiday in Kitalya till April 8 when he is to return for bail application. Kidandala believes Ssegirinya is deliberately diverting his probe into the academic credentials.
“I want court to grant me permission to serve Mr. Ssegirinya with the legal suit from Kitalya where he was taken a few days ago,” Kidandala says. “I know Ssegirinya deliberately influenced his arrest just to dodge being served with the papers but nothing will stop me from reaching him,” he adds.
Kidandala, formerly a Lord Councillor is remembered for having spearheaded the NRM sponsored impeachment campaign against the city Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago who had become a headache to the regime. Kidandala is believed to have pocketed huge sums of money to mobilize councillors at city hall and influenced the impeachment.
He however rebranded back to the opposition and was appointed on the People Power elections management committee but his interests to vie for the Kawempe North seat could not let him serve and he was tasked to step down. To his surprise, the ticket was given to Muhammad Ssegirinya who was more popular on ground than Kidandala and the incumbent Latiff Ssebaggala.
