Credible sources privy to the visit of international legendary Senegalese-American star, Akon say his visit was inspired by a mouth watering deal brokered by renowed NRM leaning events promoter Balaam Barugahare.
After the indefinite suspension of the MAMA awards that were to be hosted in the Ugandan capital, Kampala following a social media uproar by Ugandans who stormed the Twitter handles of US based DJ Khaled and the organizers, Balaam initiated another smart deal for the regime in which the deteriorated image of the country will be refurbished.
A whistleblower inside the system says Balaam lured the unsuspecting Senegalese star, Akon and gave him a deal worth $500,000 to spearhead a campaign that markets Uganda’s image to the foreign scene.
“The regime is using Akon to whitewash its image on the international scene. This deal was broked by Balaam to have Akon here. Remember after the walk to work Akon was brought here in the name of promoting the company business. He was paid $500,000 and helicopter to fly around,” the source says reflecting on past scenarios when the singer visited Uganda in the time of the 2011 political turmoil.
Currently, Akon has been airlifted in a military chopper to the countryside residence of Ugandan dictator, Gen. Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni in Rwakitura. They are to hold closed door talks with media totally restrained from getting the details.
It should be recalled that US rapper Kanye West and his estranged wife Kim Kardashian faced harsh criticism when they visited the Ugandan authoritarian. The singers were compelled to issue apologies in fear of being labelled allies of a murderous tyrant.
