In the Christian faith, people celebrate Easter to remember the atonement (paying a price for another people’s mistakes) of Jesus Christ that took place about 2000 years ago. Its in the traditional norms of Christians every April of the year to remember this significant event. Now! How do the events prior and post Easter, impact on the people of Uganda seeking to free themselves from Yoweri Museveni’s rule since 1986 which is characterized with armed forces brutality, rigging of elections, gross corruption, tribalism, sectarianism and so forth?
Coming of Bobi Wine on Uganda’s political scene
Just like in the biblical writings, there were prophets that came before Jesus Christ. These prophets paved way for him. Like Abraham, Moses, Job, to John the Baptist. They taught about salvation and being whole. Those who listened to them, there ways were made clear. This applies to the political scene of Uganda. There have been great leaders that came before Bobi Wine, like Bishop Janan Luwum, Bendicto Kiwanuka and others. These people shaped the political land scape of Uganda by the way of their principles and vision of a free Uganda where there is rule of law. You can call them the founding fathers of Uganda. Many Ugandans including Bobi look up to them in many ways as sources of inspiration.
When Jesus was born there were many great people that had his back. This included Joseph his step father, Mary his mom, the wise men and many others. When King Herod ordered to kill Baby Jesus, it took the collective efforts of many people to save his life. Some did it know that he was the savior, others didn’t know. Just as the people who to helped Mary and Joseph out of Israel to Egypt, there are people who gave them food, shelter water and other necessities. This applies to Bobi Wine, when he came on the political scene, Yoweri Museveni ordered that he should be killed while in Arua. It took the collective efforts of millions of people to save Bobi’s life. Some protested, some comforted his family, some donated money for his treatment, some prayed for him. But every one’s efforts helped to save his life during the times he was being tortured in various detentions.
Like Jesus, Bobi Wine has political guardians. In this case we have Dr Kizza Besigye, Dr Semogerere and others. They guide Bobi on various matters concerning politics and the freedom of Uganda. Without Dr Besigye and others, it would be hard for Bobi to learn to serve this higher calling Ugandans and the world at large has entrusted on him.
Bobi Wine’s teachings and actions.
Jesus was born and placed in a manger (a donkey house) in the ghetto of Bethlehem, he grew up to be a man of great stature. And that is Bobi too, he was born and then raised up in the ghettos of Kamwokya. By his life experiences, he draws his examples in words and they are the anchor of his passion for a free Uganda from bad governance. His words through his music and speeches terrify Yoweri Museveni more than the guns he has. Just as Jesus Christ words were sharp like a sword to the corrupt powers, it is now Bobi’s. Many Corrupt chaps around the country and beyond want a young man from the ghettos of Kamwokya dead.
