The Police spokesperson, CP Fred Enanga on Monday during a security briefing claimed that their intelligence had landed on a coordinated plot by some elements in the opposition who allegedly want to work in unison with thugs to destabilise the peace of the city.

According to Enanga and his intelligence team, there are plans to hijack motorists in traffic jam during rush hours. “We have learnt of probable attacks by thieves who use factory made catapults, and petrol bomb attacks by assailants currently on the run,” Enanga said during the briefing where he displayed one of the recovered catapults at Naguru police headquarters.

“We want to warn all those who plan to cause mayhem to willingly surrender the catapults or else await to be apprehended by security. We call on members of the public to be vigilant and coordinate with security to arrest such bad elements,” he added.

The warning comes just moments after president Museveni was briefed by his security confidants that a plan is underway to hamper his inauguration ceremony. He however warned of taking action if his sixth term inauguration faces a setback.
