Police have this Thursday afternoon violently cracked down on a swarm of peaceful protesters mainly women who had stormed the streets of Kampala to press for the release of NUP supporters and missing Ugandans abducted by security forces.

Their protest comes a day after NUP leaders at their party headquarters, Kamwokya tasked the government to cough all the people illegally in detention over political reasons. “We want all our people freed,” one of the women shouted moments before police swung in. “We are suffering with heaps of responsibilities. Our families are suffering,” added another clad in the traditional gomesi ware.
