The state minister, Okello Oryem has yet again panicked as he addressed a delegation of European Union diplomats and UN officials. According to Oryem, the western diplomats have not done enough to verify what is being told to them by the opposition whistleblowers. Oryem insists that what is shared on social media is not true and in some cases it turns out to be photoshop or doctored propaganda.
Minister Oryem made these remarks on Friday as he officiated the environmental protection campaign to preserve forests in Uganda which was being launched in Bunyoro subregion.
“We feel at peace when you (EU and UN) join efforts and we work as one in campaigns like this (environmental protection),” Oryem remarked. “What we ask of you is not to be hoodwinked and fed on lies by the opposition. Uganda is a very peaceful place to be,” he added.
Oryem further discouraged the European delegates to refrain from being political players in the internal affairs of Uganda. “We are a sovereign nation which governs itself in the way we deem fit. We are against any form of meddling by the west,” he said. “We will not accept to be told how to govern ourselves. On this, I am very serious,” he added.
