The Uganda prisons service has today come out to refute claims that they are to blame for the deteriorating health condition of Kawempe North MP elect Ssegirinya Muhammad who is apparently grappling with a complicated liver problem.
The prisons service say they did not forcefully vaccinate Ssegirinya as claimed in a tweet attributed to the Commission general Dr. Johnson Byabashaija which circulated last week.
According to the prisons service, Ssegirinya is just ‘playing politics’ to avoid being served with a legal petition by his fellow political competitor. “That one is just playing politics,” Frank Baine said. “He is hiding away from his colleague Kidandala Sulaiman who took him to court,” he adds.
The Kawempe North MP has on several occasions accused the prisons service of conspiring with his political rivals to bring him down using lethal poison drugs. Ssegirinya believes he was poisoned in the time he was incarcerated in Kitalya following a protest last month. His reiterations are consistent with the remarks given by the doctors at Aga Khan hospital in Nairobi who also stressed that he had been given a poisonous substance that has weakened his liver.
