Former senior presidential press secretary Joseph Tamale Mirundi has furiously criticised the UPDF spokesperson, Brig. Flavia Byekwaso for what he termed as orchestrating a security decoy in a bid to attract a ‘fat funding’ for the planned presidential inauguration ceremony.
Speaking on 96.3 Beat FM airwaves in Kampala this Wednesday morning, Mirundi said it was totally illogical for the security forces to team up and create such a stunt. “You see, our intelligence service has less intelligent people. How do you parade your own posters without a single arrest made and you claim plans are under way to distort the inauguration?,” Mirundi wonders. “Byekwaso has decided to be a fool. Her love for money will cause her trouble. You say someone is planningto block the inauguration, what image are you portraying to the other invited heads of state?” he added.
Mirundi further asks the agencies to deal with the issue internally. “Whom are they reporting to if they have got the information? What will the public do about it? You say, the planners who want to sabotage the inauguration are based in South Africa and you go ahead to invite president Cyril Ramaphosa?,” he adds. “Of what use is Uganda’s bilateral ties with Johannesburg? This is all a created stunt to implore Museveni to pump more money in security. If the bride is being married in peace, why should the wedding be held at gun point?,” he asks in reference to Museveni’s self announced victory that’s to be followed with a tightly guarded inauguration slated for May 12.
