Mukono municipality legislator Betty Nambooze Bakireke has pinned state minister for water resources, Ronald Kibuule for allegedly influencing the abduction of two supporters of the National Unity Platform party during the blood bathed 2021 general elections.
Nambooze spilled the case while appearing on the NBS Barometer extra show on Tuesday night. She revealed that at least two of the missing NUP supporters in Mukono were abducted on the orders of Minister Kibuule who used his security detail to lead the abduction.
“We have wandered from police station to police station, safe house to safe house across the country but we have not seen even a shadow of these two young men supporting NUP,” Nambooze emotionally said during the show. “The two young men were abducted for frustrating the Minister’s rerun for the MP seat,” she added.
Her claims compelled the moderator Blasio Zambali to ask if she can stand by her remarks and he boldly reiterated that she can be dragged to court if what she is saying is untrue and defamatory. “I’m ready to be prosecuted if I’m lying,” she boldly said.
It should he recalled that Minister Kibuule engineered an unprecedented bloodly campaign trail in the politics of Mukono. He is said to have influenced multiple abductions and arrests. Even on the voting date, Kibuule and his Special Forces Command guards stormed the district tally centre and placed the returning officer at gun point to compel him to declare him as the winner. It took the intervention of the Mukono DPC to restrain the minister’s security detail as they were forcefully disarmed.
