The court martial boss, Lt. Gen Andrew Gutti says that he apparently has no power to decide on the fate of the incarcerated supporters of the National Unity Platform party who are in Kitalya prison.
Gutti was rebutting to the rumour that the condemed NUP members are to reappear for bail on May 10, a couple of days to the inauguration ceremony of Gen. Yoweri Museveni as fountain of honour for a sixth term.
“I am also seeing it on social media for the first time. I’m even perplexed and I’m not understanding why they are deceiving themselves,” Gutti said. “I have not fixed a date for bail of those people. I can only do that with the approval of the Commander in chief,” he adds.
In a post published by the NUP party president Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine on Thursday as he narrated what Nubian is facing, he said his legal team had landed on information that a court session slated for May 10 had been fixed for the bail application of the jailed NUP members. This acclaim has since been dismissed by the general court martial.
