The Commemoration of the International Labor Day at State House under the theme ‘Enhancing Innovation for Increased employment creation and labour productivity” has turned into yet another political platform for president Museveni to market himself.
In his comments, Museveni lashed out at the youths whom he says have caused their own unemployment by failing to embrace the ruling NRM party. Museveni says the young people spend too much of their energy opposing the NRM government and yet it is their only potential employer.
“We are going to create the jobs, the problem is the reluctance to take our advice which has worked. We have proof that it has worked. The jobs are there but they will only come in big numbers if we listen to NRM’s principle no.3-social economic transformation,” he said. He also adds that if only young people can listen to the NRM government, maybe that’s when their problems can he worked on. “I have been seeing them wasting too much time on NUP and Bobi Wine. Opposing my government is not a job. At the end of the day you want food on your table,” he adds.
