President Yoweri Museveni is apparently under pressure after 19 prominent head of states have officially declined to attend his inauguration ceremony slated for next week on Wednesday. Majority of the African heads of state who have refused to attend are in the risky covid vulnerability age.
Credible sources inside the organizing committee say Gen. Museveni who considers himself an African demi god fears a continental boycott and disregard of his sixth term. “We have at least somehow hit the target. We have 21 heads of state who have confirmed already. That’s a fair number,” revealed the committee member. “What matters is having the function progress smoothly,” he adds.
Asked if Rwndan head of state Paul Kagame will take part in the event, a source on the committee said they are still in talks with Kigali to bury the hatchet and re-polish the bilateral with Kampala. Earlier on, Kigali has been implicated and suspected to have been fostering the Ugandan opposition. Even in Museveni’s post-election remarks, he lashed out at a certain East African country (meaning Rwanda) that was trying to meddle in the internal affairs of Uganda.
