According to the firebrand opposition leader, Museveni wants to legitimize his sixth term yet the electoral process was tainted with irregularities. “I won the 2021 general elections and it is on record,” Bobi told a swarm of his supporters convened at the NUP party headquarters in Kamwokya. “Museveni wants to use this chance to clean his mess. I want to clearly put it that I will not attend anything like a swearing in ceremony of Mr. Museveni,” he added.
The former presidential candidate says he won the disputed poll with 54.19% of the total vote which according to him is enough to make him the legally elected president of the Republic of Uganda. Wine joins ANT’s Gen. Mugisha Muntu who also protested the invitation saying it will be a direct card legitimizing impunity, corruption and oppression. Museveni is expected to host at least 21 of the invited 40 heads of state from African nations.
