The outgoing speaker of parliament Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga in a two minute Sunday televised statement revealed that she was to against her NRM party decision to stand on her own as independent. Kadaga disagrees with the CEC decision that accorded Omolo county MP, Jacob Oulanyah the flag to compete for speaker.

“As you may be aware, my party (NRM) did not endorse me for Speakership race. I will contest for Speaker as independent. There have been many attempts to eject me from the party leadership. During CEC elections last year, there was tremendous interference, intimidation and massive funding from some party members against me. I’m being pushed out because of speaking about issues concerning ordinary Ugandans,” Rebecca Kadaga said.

Today, parliament shall be going to the polls for speaker and deputy. NRM has fronted both Oulanyah for full speaker and Anita Among as the Deputy.
