The commander in chief of all armed forces, Gen. Yoweri Tibuhaburwa is has lashed out at the ‘cowardly’ assailants who on Tuesday morning trailed and shot at former Minister for transport and works, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala.
An infuriated Museveni who is said to have spoken to Katumba moments after the shooting incident is said to have fumed at the security forces especially the area police for failing to respond to the shooting on time.
Museveni as usual described the assailants as pigs that do not value life. This chain of statements is the same rhetoric he has issued for all the time a high profile government official is shot.
“The pigs who do not value life shot at Gen. Katumba, killed his daughter and driver and injured him. Condolences on the loss of the two Ugandans,” Museveni said.
He added, “I talked to Gen Katumba twice on the phone. He is being well- managed. We shall defeat the criminals as we did in the past. We already have clues to those killers.”
Gen. Katumba has in a trending social media footage shot at Medipal hospital, Kololo revealed that he will be fine. He says he sustained minor injuries on his left arm and chest but remains in anguish over the untimely death of his daughter, Brenda Nantongo Wamala who had just returned from the United States for her studies. The 24 year old died on the scene after the bullets riddled through the UPDF land cruiser hit her and the driver identified as Haruna Kayongo, a sergeant by rank.
