President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa says that there is no Ugandan out of the 44 million citizens that has the courage to face off with him in an offensive struggle. Gen. Museveni, a bush war veteran has just made these remarks at the ongoing Heroes day celebrations at Kololo independence grounds in the capital, Kampala.
“No body can defeat NRM by force. If you bring force, then you are on the wrong arena. We have a lot of capacity to deal with force,” he said as he taunts all the opposition forces that have challenged his 3 decade rule that is yet to extend to 4 decades by 2026. “There were mistakes made by the opposition by being violent, intimidating, and attacking people because they were putting on yellow. Some people didn’t even vote because of intimidation. This was of course a miscalculation. I can tell you if you have got ears to hear. Those who encouraged opposition to take that line are misleaders and acting unconstitutionally. There is no need to use force in Uganda now because you can vote. In some areas, the opposition won. Some people think they can use force to uproot the NRM, it won’t happen,” he adds.
Museveni also says he sympathises with all those who think they can put the NRA down. “You see, in NRA when we were coming to power, we came close to the people. You cannot separate us from the people,” he says. “I saw my young grand son, Kyagulanyi trying to bring chaos but he tasted. He cannot risk anymore,” Tibuhaburwa brags.
The 77 year old tyrant remains one of Africa’s longest serving rulers coming at 4th on the continent. His reign is mired with gross rights violations and denial of press freedoms. He has presided over a reign of terror targeting youths who openly support his principal challenger, Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine, a popstar who joined the political arena 4 years ago.
