Moments after his exposure as the pioneer of terror meted out on political prisoners especially those inclined to the National Unity Platform party, the Kitalya Prison officer in charge, Onesmus Bitariho says he is neither moved nor scared by what he labelled ‘barking dogs of NUP.’
In a WhatsApp group chat eavesdropped by this reporter, Bitariho responds to concerns raised by his workmates who urge him to tone down his anger on NUP supporters. “Now that you have been exposed to the public, I would wish to implore you to be more civil with the way you are handling political prisoners,” a concerned person posted in the prisons service WhatsApp group. His comment attracted fury from Bitariho who responded with anger that he is not afraid at all. “First of all, I am armed and everyone knows what I can do with my gun. Secondly, NUP members stop at social media posts. They cannot cause any harm to me or my family,” he added.
Bitariho is said to be the lead pioneer of terror on all political prisoners especially NUP members. He has presided over a reign of unprecedented terror on inmates detained for political cases. The newly released NUP members implicate him in all the atrocities imposed on them under his watch and command.
