State Minister for environment, Beatrice Anywar has come out to back the appointment of Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo as a member of cabinet in the Gen. Museveni government. According to the former FDC iron lady whose peak days are well recalled in the 2008 Mabira riots, FDC has been a fishing pond for the ruling NRM party.
“We cannot be in fights all the time,” remarks Anywar. “I actually regret all the time I wasted opposing president Museveni. We cannot be fighting a man who has showed willingness to work with us,” she adds.
Anywar formerly belonged to the Forum for Democratic Change party where she was iconic for her street activism having pioneered the 2008 Mabira protests. She is one of the FDC bigwigs who were fished by Gen. Museveni to join the NRM dining table. Beti Kamya also followed suit in the years that followed on till Rubaga FDC mobilizer, Joyce Ssebugwawo washed all this off when she accepted the appointment. Nabbosa says her appointment is divine and biblical. “I love FDC but God asked me to serve Museveni,” remarked Nabbosa when asked why she joined a regime she has opposed for the preceding 20 years.
