Former Member of Parliament of Kabula County, Hon. James Kakooza has been voted by the NRM Caucus to represent Uganda at the East African Legislative Assembly. In the hotly contested election, ex Tourism Minister Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi who was warming up for the seat turned out disappointed after the NRM caucus electorate unanimously shunned him in favour of Maj. James Kakooza.

Sources that attended the NRM Caucus say an infuriated Ssuubi Kiwanda banged the table and cursed at his party members. “I have mobilized for the party all my life. What haven’t I done for NRM?,” he asked. “I even resigned my MP seat. Why don’t you appreciate my sacrifices at least for once,” he sobbed.
Kakooza got 93 votes and will now replace the late Hon. Mathias Kasamba passed on earlier this year.
