Ugandans are still in disbelief after the Ministry of Health authorities procured the whooping UGX 29 billion donation to purchase a fleet of Toyota double cabin pick ups.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ainebyoona Emmanuel confirmed in a Friday tweet that the procured fleet was already close to the country.
“Part of the 282 double Cabin pick ups from Toyota bought using the 23.9 bn part of UGX 29 bn donated by the public for COVID-19 support. Shipping for more pick-ups is underway. Currently undergoing registration and will be given to all districts soon #MOHDelivers,” he tweeted.
The fleet has since left people in disarray with many expressing their fury over how the country would fail to at least procure Covid vaccines which are already a shortage.
Renowned NBS journalist Canary Mugume also for the first time lashed out at the regime in a tweet that insinuated that procuring vehicles was not the urgent matter.
“Uganda is in a deficit of 27,000 hospital beds. Also, Uganda has just bought 282 double Cabin pick-ups from Toyota worth shs.23.9 billion donated by the public. These will be distributed to government officials in various districts across the country,” tweeted Canary.
