Controversial city lawyer Male Mabirizi Kiwanuka has again returned to court challenging the ministerial appointments of a hive of recently inaugurated ministers whom he says do not have sufficient academic credentials to back their duties.
In a petition dated July 23, addressed to the clerk of parliament, Mabirizi argues that he has adduced proof that some Ministers do not have the minimum qualifications of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education or its equivalent. He tasks court to permit him to go to the Uganda National Examinations Board so he can be granted a chance to see some of the credentials of the ministers.
Mabirizi is not the first to challenge the first lady Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni on academic credentials. Several Ugandans who have overtime dared to question the first lady have since been silenced. Though the first lady in her autobiography claims to be a product of Bweranyangi girls’ school in Bushenyi district in Western Uganda, she has never shared anything about her academic journey something that raises eyebrows amongst the public. She has also been castigated for failing the entire Education Ministry which she has presided over since her appointment in 2016. Being close to power, Kataaha has never been reshuffled despite being an average performer in her docket for which she doesn’t even qualify.
