It is said that armed UPDF soldiers accompanied by LDU personnel went on rampage and started indiscriminately beating up people they encountered. The raid kick started at 21:00hrs with the perpetrators who are in army still at large.

The clobbering did not spare medical doctors who were returning from duty. Kigenyi Paul, a medical doctor was also beaten by these same military men.
“They beat me up and took everything I had. I told them I am a medical doctor returning from duty but they didn’t listen. They just continued beating us up,” he intimates. “They took my money, the food and drinks I was taking for my family,” a teary Kigenyi whom we found at Hope medical clinic adds.
Contacted for a comment, Police have denied having links to the group saying they have no knowledge about their actions. “We act professional whenever we go for curfew operations. I can assure you that it is not police which battered these people,” an officer who spoke on condition of anonymity told this website. “If people say it’s soldiers doing this then it may be so. I’m not authorized to speak to you but wait for a report from my seniors,” he added.
The heinous actions come at a time when the security forces are in the spotlight as the public suspects that they may be behind the prevailing Machete attacks in Masaka subregion. Close to 30 people especially the elderly have been gruesomely murdered by these merciless unknown assailants believed to be within the armed forces.
