Sserunkuuma who was in high spirits anticipated to be released on bail since he has spent over 9 months in custody at Kitalya maximum prison.
Prosecution urged the army judge to decline to grant Sserunkuuma bail without giving any substantial grounds. This is what implored the judge to again remand Sserunkuuma back to Kitalya. This time round, no production date was given for his bail hearing.
Sserunkuuma has been in prison since November 2020 when he was abducted by security operatives of the CMI. His arrest was allegedly linked to possession of military paraphernalia mainly a red beret and overall which were then gazetted as a military monopoly. However, the real basis of his arrest was his political affiliation to the National Unity Platform party, an establishment led by the generational leader Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine.
