The Uganda Police Force spokesperson Fred Enanga has revealed that the trial of outspoken Catholic cleric Rev. Fr. Mugisha has nothing to do with his political affiliations as claimed by opposition supporters of NUP.
Enanga in a presser sanctioned at Naguru police headquarters on Monday said the priest is a suspect in the murder case since the deceased victim was clobbered within his perimeter.
“The suspected car thief was subjected to torture. When in custody, the guards realized the suspect was not feeling fine. In the process of taking him to the hospital, he passed away,” Enanga remarked. “There is misinformation circulating that the Reverand Father is being witch-hunted because of his previous stand, and this is not true,” he added.
He further added that investigations are underway. “We are investigating a crime of murder, and the perpetrators should be brought to book. It is not about a particular ideology, whether by government or opposition or NUP,” he said. “Any decisions that will come out will be based on facts and not politics,” he added.
