President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa has adjusted his public address that had earlier on been scheduled for tomorrow evening.
According to a communication issued by his press secretary Lindah Nabusayi Wamboka, the address will be held on Saturday at 20:00hrs, a day far much later than earlier communicated.
Sources privy to the adjustment intimmated to this newspaper that Museveni was tipped that his major challenger Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine is likely to give an online address on the same Friday, something that may sabotage Museveni’s address.
“Yes we know everyone is eager to hear from the president regarding the mid week bombings but you have to bear with the adjustment. We are hearing runours that even Bobi Wine has an address on the same Friday,” a state house source told this reporter. “Matters of security require utmost attention from all members of the public. If Bobi Wine has an address on Friday then with due respect we have to wait for another free day. You know the huge following he has. The president can’t compete with him for an audience like you witnessed in the campaign trail,” the source added.
Meanwhile, analysts have warned that the address may flop given that at the same hour, many youths may opt to watch the English Premier League match between Arsenal and Liverpool which shall occur at the same hour when Museveni will be addressing the nation on Saturday.
