The FDC which still nurses wounds of losing Makerere University to NUP’s Shamim Nambassa has resorted to hurriedly owning victor candidates.

No sooner had Rachael was announced as the Guild President  of UCU than FDC leaders like the Mulindwa Walid Lubega and Harold Kaija announced allegiance to her. The FDC went an extra mile to edit Rachael’s official poster to include the key symbol as a consolation move to not only heal them from the Makerere loss but also corroborate with their narrative that she is their candidate.

However, in the process Kaija and his partner in crime errored when they renamed Rachael to Rebecca, something that triggered suspense and widespread backlash.

“In UCU we don’t have parties,” one student angrily fumed on Walid’s post. “Her name is Rachael not Rebecca as you have baptized her,” another student commented on Kaija’s post.

Meanwhile our reporter has contacted a member on the Mirembe Rachael camp who revealed that they have no ties to FDC. “We have no links with FDC. Please disregard whatever they are saying. We were independent but NUP leaning,” she revealed. “I am shocked that they have even edited our poster to suit their narrative. We have never been FDC as widely claimed, we are NUP leaning but independent because our institution does not have space for party politics,” she added.
