Masaka High Court has deferred the case of Hon Ssegirinya and Hon Allan Ssewanyana’s case to December 21. During the proceedings, State informed court that Investigations are not complete in the 2nd file of murder. This contravenes their earlier position in which they claimed that all the necessary proof including CCTV records and phone call logs had been adduced.

Malende receiving threats over Ssegirinya case while Lukwago walks scot free

During the hearing, Kawempe North MP Hon Ssegirinya told court that he is in solitary confinement at Luzira and he is not allowed to attend juma prayers or associate with other prisoners and the court order to take them to private hospitals of their choice has not been respected.

“Your worship, my fundamental rights are being violated. I’m in solitary confinement and I’m not allowed to associate with other inmates. Even my liberty to worship is breached,” Ssegirinya said.

Court directed prisons to allow the lawyers and relatives to Hon. Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana to access them.

Meanwhile, only Advocate Shamim Malende is showing up for the proceedings while her partner Erias Lukwago is still a no show and this has been a trend for the past 3 sessions. Lukwago has not given any justification for his absconding but credible sources privy to him say he is unwilling to associate with NUP since he is a sworn member of Besigye’s People’s Front for Transition.
