The National Unity Platform party president also former presidential contender Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi Wine has lauded the Biden administration for stepping up its efforts to tame surviving dictatorships on the African continent. Wine says that the Ugandan knowledge part of the military has purportedly managed incredible common freedoms and rights violations, murders and claimed disappearances.

“The CMI headed by Maj. Gen. Kandiho has presided over the most vile human rights violations. They’ve abducted, tortured and murdered Ugandans with impunity. Financial sanctions are welcome. Just one step. Dictator Museveni and his cronies will account for the atrocities,” Bobi said in a social media statement.

Reacting on the sanctions, the NUP party secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya said, “It is most ironic that the military regime now claims to know about ‘due process’ and ‘fair hearing’. I thought they didn’t know about these concepts. The same regime has denied its victims these rights with impunity, held them incommunicado, tortured them and suffocated the courts to ensure they get no justice. As we speak hundreds of NUP supporters are rotting in jails, never having an opportunity to appear before a judge. And now that one of their own is affected, they have remembered that laws matter? How sad. Anyway, I believe this gives every aggrieved Ugandan a signal that the wheels of justice may come slow, but they grind just fine. One step at a time.”

MP Zaake also in a statement said, “The way dictator Museveni’s regime violates the rights of citizens with impunity, I am shocked that they actually know of such sacred concepts as “fair hearing” and “due process”. They have become so used to perpetrating injustice that they now interpret any attempt at redressing that injustice as an unjust attack on them. Well, I guess it’s time for the dictator and his murderous thugs in uniform to feel the heat! #WeAreRemovingaDictator 😡”
