Sources privy to the development say the EC was shocked by the prowess of the National Unity Platform party candidate Harriet Nakwedde whose popularity amongst the voters has worried the NRM party chairman Gen. Yoweri Museveni. It is said that the main reason why Museveni took it upon himself to participate in the Kayunga polls was that he wanted to retrieve first hand experience from the ground.

Byabakama has reportedly been tasked by Museveni to do everything possible so that the NRM party candidate Andrew Muwonge defeats NUP’s Harriet Nakwedde.

In the meeting scheduled to take place in Kayunga district today at 10am in the residence of the NRM party candidate Andrew Muwonge, EC boss justice Simon Byabakama will personally meet with the Kayunga RDC Ssempala Kigozi and other top police and army chiefs in the district. The agenda of the meeting is to see how the EC and security officials can connive to fulfill the expectations of the NRM party chairman Gen. Museveni who wants a win in this byelection tomorrow.
