Former senior presidential press secretary Joseph Tamale Mirundi has blasted the ruling NRM party over their exorbitant efforts in rigging the Kayunga polls. Mirundi disputes the EC results that stated that the NRM candidate Andrew Muwonge won the polls.

Mirundi says NRM lost the polls in broad daylight and that even the naked eye can see that NUP won the seat.

“NRM lost to Bobi Wine. In fact Bobi Wine has scored in Kayunga. Even without laying foot in the district after being blocked, his candidate has won,” Mirundi reiterated on the airwaves of Pearl FM this Saturday morning. “NUP has never been in these elections to win but rather to expose the loopholes in the NRM systems and institutions,” he added.

Mirundi relates the current events to the 1980’s. He says the wave of violence that preceded the Kayunga polls is what inspired the 1986 bush war. Mirundi adds that the ‘scientific polls’ organized by the NRM are rather fuelling anger in the already charged population. “Museveni has lost popularity to the Bobi Wine generation. He has surrendered his past revolutionary self and he is now more or less of a shadow of his past self,” Mirundi says. “Bobi Wine is like David who stoned Goliath,” he adds.
