Addressing a People’s Front for Transition presser on Tuesday at his Katonga road office on Tuesday, the former Museveni private physician told Ugandans that elections were not the solution to regime change which insinuates why he didn’t participate in the 2021 polls which would have been his fifth time on the presidential ballot.

He gave his take on the Kayunga polls which were widely mired with irregularities. “The armed engagements that were witnessed in Kayunga district last week are evidence of the situation of war in the country. The election further affirmed our stand that elections and of themselves can’t cause change in this country. I would like to advise the people of Kayunga to join our front. The struggle is bigger than the voting,” he said.

On the schools reopening, Besigye urged teachers not to report to schools if their salary and working terms are not enhanced to meet with the deteriorating economy characterized by inflation and price fluctuations.

“Teachers won’t teach if we are paying them what they were being paid. What they were being paid has been greatly taken over by inflation,” he asserted. “Teachers must be paid if we want our children to learn. Teachers’ pay must match inflation and workload,” he added.
